Malpua

Malpua is a popular sweet dish that originated in the Indian subcontinent and is loved by people across the country. Ingredients:

For the Malpua:

1 cup wheat flour

1/2 cup milk

1/2 cup water

1/4 teaspoon fennel seeds

Oil for frying

For the sugar syrup:

1 cup sugar

1 cup water

A few strands of saffron

1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder

 

Instructions:

In a mixing bowl, combine the wheat flour, milk, water, and fennel seeds. Mix well until a smooth batter is formed.

Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.

Pour 1/4 cup of the batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown on both sides.

Remove the Malpua from the pan and drain the excess oil on a paper towel.

Repeat the process with the remaining batter.

In a separate pan, combine sugar, water, saffron, and cardamom powder. Mix well and bring to a boil.

Reduce the heat and let the sugar syrup simmer for 5-7 minutes or until it thickens.

Dip the fried Malpua in the sugar syrup and let it soak for a minute.

Remove the Malpua from the sugar syrup and place it on a serving plate.

Garnish with some chopped nuts and serve hot.
