Doodh Pitha

Ingredients:

For the dough:

2 cups of rice flour

2 cups of water

Salt to taste

For the filling:

1 cup of khoya (milk solids)

1/2 cup of powdered sugar

1/2 tsp of cardamom powder

1/2 cup of grated coconut

For the syrup:

1 cup of sugar

1 cup of water

A few drops of rose essence

 

Instructions:

In a saucepan, add 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of water and heat until the sugar dissolves completely. Once it comes to a boil, add a few drops of rose essence and keep it aside to cool.

In a mixing bowl, add the rice flour, water, and salt. Mix well until you have a smooth and soft dough. Cover the dough and let it rest for 10-15 minutes.

In a separate mixing bowl, add khoya, powdered sugar, cardamom powder, and grated coconut. Mix everything well to make the filling.

Divide the dough into small balls and flatten them into a small disc with your fingers.

Take a small portion of the filling and place it in the center of the flattened dough disc.

Carefully fold the edges of the dough over the filling and shape it into a ball.

Repeat the process with the remaining dough and filling to make more Khoya Pithas.

Heat water in a steamer and place the Khoya Pithas in it to steam for 15-20 minutes.

Once they are cooked, remove them from the steamer and let them cool down.

Pour the sugar syrup over the Khoya Pithas and let them soak in the syrup for a few minutes.

Your delicious Doodh Khoya Pithas are ready to serve.
